Studies conducted so far with the aim of understanding which factors to act on to protect the well-being of teachers have shown that the characteristics of the work context play a crucial role in allowing them to perform their jobs well and preventing high-stress levels. A work environment attentive to teachers’ needs facilitates organizational socialization processes which, applied to the school context, refer to the ways in which a teacher acquires knowledge about their role, interacts with colleagues, and feels part of the organization. The present study explored the factors involved in the professional development of teachers by investigating the relationships between the characteristics of the school environment and organizational socialization processes. The study involved 157 primary and secondary school teachers through a self-report questionnaire aimed at investigating both perceptions of certain organizational dimensions (e.g., workload, colleague support, control over teaching decisions) and aspects of organizational socialization (e.g., how the teacher perceived to be integrated into their work environment). The results suggest that teachers’ perception of their role is a fundamental element for effective adaptation to their work environment.

Abstract
The results suggest that teachers’ perception of their role is a fundamental element for effective adaptation to their work environment.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
