Abstract · Amusing ourselves (not) to death. Movida in the time of Covid as a space of shared responsibility · Over the last decades, the topic of movida has been often framed within the the- oretical framework of risk sociology; more recently, its analysis has to deal with the pandemic issue, also in respect to its media coverage and especially referring to its development, from the beginning of the health emergency up to the reopening of entertainment venues in Summer 2020. Based on these premises, this study aims to analyze if and how the pandemic has changed people’s behaviors and their perception of security related to the consumption of movida. To this purpose, it focuses on the case of the town of Terni, carrying out a mixed method analysis which blends different methodological tools of social research (survey, qualitative interviews, participant observation). The research shows a sort of movida infected by the virus, also corresponding to a higher per- ception of risk in our societies, counterbalanced by the collective desire to maintain leisure time habits, in any case. Therefore, the trend topic of the responsibility also emerges, and it is played around the search for a balance between opposing thrusts: the danger transmitted by the media and the need for aggregation. Here the collective response highlights the reading of movida as a space of shared responsibility and reaction to the crisis.
