The diffusion of Artificial Intelligence (AI) across social and educational contexts signals, more than a mere technological advancement, a structural transformation in the conditions of acting, thinking, and being citizens. The operational autonomy and decision-making opacity of algorithmic systems redefine the relationship between technological power, responsibility, and public deliberation, rendering the attribution of action and the formation of judgment increasingly problematic. In this scenario the pedagogical analysis – predominantly oriented toward AI literacy and the development of practical-operational skills – risks remaining incomplete, as it neglects a deeper reflection on the shifting relationship between power and consciousness. Drawing on the philosophical reflections on the development of technology and adopting the figure of Prometheus as a symbolic paradigm of the disproportion between power and responsibility, the article interprets the contemporary algorithmic condition as a radicalization of such asymmetry. An analysis of major institutional frameworks further exposes the limits of approaches centered on practical skills and governance, which fail to engage properly political dimensions of algorithmic citizenship. The concluding proposal of a Promethean pedagogy – far from being conceived as a prescriptive or definitive model – seeks to reorient educational reflection toward judgment, collective responsibility, and the preservation of the common world, cultivating human potential (Malavasi, 2019) and reaffirming the civic function of educational institutions in the age of AI.

Abstract
The concluding proposal of a Promethean pedagogy – far from being conceived as a prescriptive or definitive model – seeks to reorient educational reflection toward judgment, collective responsibility, and the preservation of the common world, cultivating human potential (Malavasi, 2019) and reaffirming the civic function of educational institutions in the age of AI.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
