This contribution examines parents’ perceptions of shared reading within the family, highlighting its positive impact on the parent-child relationship, emotional connection, and child development. Based on a project carried out in six public nurseries in Foligno (Pg), the study uses qualitative analysis of reflective diaries. The results show that reading aloud is a relational educational act that promotes autonomy, values, critical thinking, and emotions in children, while strengthening the emotional bond. Although we are aware of the limitations related to the small – non-randomized– sample size, the findings suggest the need to further explore socio-economic factors that may hinder the continuity of shared reading practices and to reinforce parenting-support initiatives in this area.

Abstract
This contribution examines parents’ perceptions of shared reading within the family, highlighting its positive impact on the parent-child relationship, emotional connection, and child development. Based on a project carried out in six public nurseries in Foligno (Pg), the study uses qualitative analysis of reflective diaries. The results show that reading aloud is a relational educational act that promotes autonomy, values, critical thinking, and emotions in children, while strengthening the emotional bond. Although we are aware of the limitations related to the small – non-randomized– sample size, the findings suggest the need to further explore socio-economic factors that may hinder the continuity of shared reading practices and to reinforce parenting-support initiatives in this area.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
