Aim: aim of this study was to analyse skeletal, dental and arches morphology in a group of subjects with dental agenesis. This sample was compared with a control group formed by subjects without agenesis in order to observe significant differences. Subjects and method: a group of 84 subjects (group A) with dental agenesis and a group of 40 subjects (group C) with different malocclusion but without agenesis were studied. Latero-lateral, postero-anterior radiographs and cast analysis were conducted for every subject. Results: different variables (vertical, dental, esthetical and arches analysis) are significant in the comparison of the two groups. Lateral upper incisors and second lower bicuspid are the most frequent absent tooth. Skeletal sagittal and transversal dimensions of maxilla are reducted in group A. Conclusions: the reduced dimensions of maxilla in patients with dental absence is an important indication for treatment plan in growing subjects.
