BACKGROUND: The aim of the study is to evaluate the workrelated subjective stress in a group of employees operating in the healthcare sector, through the administration of a specific questionnaire (HSE "Indicator Tool"). METHODS: We studied a final sample operating in the health and welfare sector. For research purposes during the medical examination the administration the HSE indicator tool, the collection of information about relevant clinical and medical history and a venous blood sample were carried out for each subject. RESULTS: The Pearson's correlation showed a statistically significant negative correlation between the mean values of all the critical dimensions and the neutrophils. CONCLUSIONS: Preliminary results indicate that a critical perception of the workplace stress can be statistically associated with a decreasing of the mean concentrations of the neutrophils.
