In this study we evaluated fifty-five samples of posterior uveal melanoma managed by enucleation. In particular, we focused on the relationship, in this kind of neoplasm, between survival and two classic parameters; tumor cell type and tumor size, and another group of parameters, including the nuclear DNA content (ploidy), the value of nucleolar organizer regions (AgNORs) and the immunohistochemical detection of proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA). We found that ploidy, AgNORs and PCNA, as has already been shown for the tumor cell type and tumor size, can be connected with a poor prognosis in uveal melanomas.

Abstract
In this study we evaluated fifty-five samples of posterior uveal melanoma managed by enucleation. In particular, we focused on the relationship, in this kind of neoplasm, between survival and two classic parameters; tumor cell type and tumor size, and another group of parameters, including the nuclear DNA content (ploidy), the value of nucleolar organizer regions (AgNORs) and the immunohistochemical detection of proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA). We found that ploidy, AgNORs and PCNA, as has already been shown for the tumor cell type and tumor size, can be connected with a poor prognosis in uveal melanomas.File in questo prodotto:
