In many reviews of the short poem Il Conoscente by Umberto Fiori (2019), the frequent references to Dante's Commedia are striking. In this essay, I propose a first study of the possible points of contact between the two operas, to justify the readers' perception of a certain "family air". In addition to analysing some punctual references, I investigate the reasons for a deeper affinity, relating some key elements of the poem, and more generally of Fiori's poetics, to the Commedia: in particular, I dwell on the form and genre of the text, the status of the author-protagonist, and the function of similes. In this way, I attempt to illustrate how Dante's archetype acts in a work that today seems to re-actualise some of its founding dimensions, and to verify whether it can serve as an indicator to understand some of its constitutive dynamics.

Abstract
In many reviews of the short poem Il Conoscente by Umberto Fiori (2019), the frequent references to Dante's Commedia are striking. In this essay, I propose a first study of the possible points of contact between the two operas, to justify the readers' perception of a certain "family air". In addition to analysing some punctual references, I investigate the reasons for a deeper affinity, relating some key elements of the poem, and more generally of Fiori's poetics, to the Commedia: in particular, I dwell on the form and genre of the text, the status of the author-protagonist, and the function of similes. In this way, I attempt to illustrate how Dante's archetype acts in a work that today seems to re-actualise some of its founding dimensions, and to verify whether it can serve as an indicator to understand some of its constitutive dynamics.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
