The diffusion of the new mass media in the second half of the twentieth century and its influence on children’s literature and reading have provoked an in-depth reflection that has generated balances and pedagogical proposals.The aim of this paper is to shed light on the way in which these reflections reached primary school teachers through the Italian periodical «L’Educatore» in the 1980s. Articles from the period 1978 to 1987 are analyzed, which contain cultural suggestions, theoretical references and didactic proposals reconsidered for a media context undergoing profound changes and now characterized by the immediacy of visual communication.
