The intermedial potential of Pinocchio is immense. Starting from Carlo Collodi’s book (1883), it is possible to find several elements that anticipate cinema and its language. The essay focuses on the fortune of the wooden puppet in contemporary film production, also including animated cinema, with the aim of analysing the metamorphoses of this character and their aesthetic and cultural effects.
